About Us
We’re building a cleaner, faster way to produce battery-grade lithium from complex brines already in motion.
Discover our purpose
Lithium Mining Doesn’t Have to Cost the Earth.
We turn wastewater into battery-grade lithium - faster, cleaner, and more cost-effective than traditional mining. We’re setting the global standard for the world’s most sustainable lithium, driving EV and energy storage markets towards a greener future.
Our Purpose
We turn complex brines into critical minerals for the energy transition.
The energy transition is changing how the world moves, stores power, and builds resilient energy systems. Electric vehicles, battery storage, renewable power, and modern grid infrastructure all depend on reliable access to lithium and other critical minerals.
But producing more lithium is only part of the challenge.
The world also needs better ways to produce it - faster, cleaner, closer to demand, and with less pressure on land, water, and global supply chains.
That’s why Lithium Harvest exists.
We saw an opportunity to rethink lithium production by looking at resources already in motion: produced water, geothermal brines, and other complex industrial brines that have often been treated as waste or underused streams.
By turning wastewater into battery-grade lithium and other high-value minerals, we’re helping create a more sustainable path for critical mineral supply - one that supports cleaner batteries, stronger regional supply chains, and a more practical energy transition.
Our purpose is simple: To turn wastewater and complex brines into high-value minerals for a cleaner, more resilient energy future.

From Brine to Battery-Grade Lithium
Lithium Harvest develops integrated brine-to-lithium solutions that turn complex brines into commercial value.
We work across produced water, geothermal brine, lithium-bearing industrial streams, and battery-market opportunities - evaluating, extracting, refining, and producing lower-impact lithium compounds for the energy transition.
Every brine is different. That’s why our approach starts with chemistry, process understanding, and commercial fit - not assumptions.
Changing How Lithium Supply Is Built
The world doesn’t just need more lithium. It needs lithium supply that can be developed faster, produced with lower environmental impact, located closer to demand, and built around resources already available today.
That means looking beyond traditional mines and evaporation ponds.
Lithium Harvest is focused on a different pathway: turning produced water, geothermal brines, and other complex industrial brines into battery-grade lithium and, where chemistry supports it, other high-value minerals.
These resources are already flowing through existing industrial systems. With the right chemistry, infrastructure, technology, and commercial model, they can become part of a more resilient critical mineral supply chain.
This is how Lithium Harvest helps create:
- More regional lithium supply
- Better use of existing infrastructure
- Lower-impact critical mineral production
- Faster project development pathways
- New value from underused resources
- A more circular approach to lithium production
Water engineers, not mining theorists
Producing lithium from complex brines isn’t just a mining challenge. It’s a water treatment, separation, chemistry, process integration, and operations challenge.
That’s where Lithium Harvest is different.
Our foundation is industrial water treatment. With more than two decades of experience behind our approach, we understand complex brines, scaling risk, impurities, competing ions, pretreatment requirements, process control, and real operating conditions.
That practical experience matters because lithium extraction from brine isn’t solved in isolation. Every step must work together - from pretreatment and Direct Lithium Extraction to refining and battery-grade product quality.
We don’t see DLE as a standalone box. We see it as part of a complete brine-to-lithium system designed for real operating environments.

Our Story
From wastewater challenge to lithium opportunity.
Lithium Harvest began with a field insight in 2012, when founders Sune Mathiesen and Paw Juul were running a produced-water treatment pilot for an oil and gas operator.
Produced water is often managed as a waste stream - a complex mix of water, salts, solids, oil, and dissolved minerals. But in that water, they saw something others had overlooked: valuable minerals, including lithium, already present in industrial systems.
That discovery sparked years of focused R&D and laid the foundation for a new approach to sustainable lithium extraction.
In 2020, Lithium Harvest was incorporated as a dedicated cleantech venture to turn that waste-to-value insight into a scalable lithium extraction company.
The company builds on more than two decades of industrial water treatment experience and practical knowledge from more than 400 industrial water treatment systems connected to our leadership team. That background gives Lithium Harvest a grounded understanding of complex brines, process reliability, system integration, and real operating conditions.
Today, with core technologies advanced and IP protection in place, Lithium Harvest is moving from development toward commercialization - building a practical pathway from complex brines to battery-grade lithium production.

Why it matters
Lower-Impact Lithium, Measured in Outcomes
Sustainability only matters if it shows up in real outcomes.
At Lithium Harvest, we’re focused on producing battery-grade lithium from brines already available through existing industrial infrastructure - instead of relying only on new mines, large evaporation ponds, and long development timelines.
By turning produced water and geothermal brine into valuable resources, our approach is designed to reduce environmental impact while supporting faster, more resilient lithium supply.
The world needs more lithium. But it also needs lithium produced in a way that fits the future we’re trying to build.
Explore our sustainability approach to rethinking critical mineral supply
The energy transition can’t scale without lithium. But lithium production must scale in a way that reduces pressure on land, water, emissions, and global supply chains.
